Welcome
This is the first Sunday of Christmas! We hope you had a good Christmas
From whichever platform your participating in worship today, let us know in the comments that you're here. Say hi! Its good to see you all there.
You can also sign-in and let us know at
We are worshipping online and in person. There are multiple ways that you can join in worship.
Youtube: Worship Service, Playlist (with music)
Facebook: Service starts at 9am

And you can continue on in this post. Included in the service here is music and written announcements and other information.

No matter how you worship with us, know that you are in our prayers and we're glad to worship with you today.

Peace,
Pastor John

When you're ready, click on the first video to join in singing.
What follows is the order of service that you'll find in the video. You can read through it here, or scroll down to the video for the main part of the service.

Announcements
Tuesday 12/29: 4pm Centering Prayer on live on our Facebook Page

If you have items for the January Newsletter, please get them to the church.

Our Sunday School classes will be taking a vacation for a couple of weeks over the holiday. They'll be back on January 10th!

Stay after church to record scripture readings for worship and the radio. If you would like to record a Children's Sermon, let Pastor John know.

Joy's, Concerns, Giving, and Prayers
I invite you, either in the comments to the Facebook video or in the YouTube video to share your joys and concerns. As we go forward I'll make sure they get shared with the rest of the church (and I'm looking forward to doing that, so share away!)

If you want to make sure we get a prayer request, but don't want to put it in the comments, please follow this link:

Share a joy, concern, and/or prayer request

During this time I invite you to give as well.  Thank you for your continued offerings to the church, and to the many other places around us that you’ve been giving of your time and your money.

Remember that you can mail in your offerings to:
Marceline UMC
321 N Kansas Ave
Marceline, MO 64658

You can also give online.

Your gifts and commitment to your faith help us reach out and tell Jesus’ story in so many different ways.

Take some time for some personal prayer, and take some time to give. This could be the time when you go online, or you write a check to the church, or when you make that commitment to give in a different way.

After the personal prayer, I'll say a prayer (if you're watching the video), and then join in saying the Lord's Prayer below.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Today's Message: Rev. Bruce Baxter
Today's message comes from Rev. Bruce Baxter who is the Southeast District Superintendent. Some of the fun parts of technology is that it has become much easier to share messages from others from all over the state, for special ooccasions
Benediction
Here is the Franciscan Prayer that we ended the service with

May God bless you with discomfort...
at easy answers, hard hearts,
half-truths, and superficial relationships.
May God bless you so that you may live
from deep within your heart
where God's Spirit dwells.

May God bless you with anger...
at injustice, oppression,
and exploitation of people.
May God bless you so that you may
work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears...
to shed for those who suffer from pain,
rejection, starvation and war.
May God bless you so that you
may reach out your hand
to comfort them and turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with
enough foolishness
to believe that you can make a difference
in this world, in your neighborhood,
so that you will courageously try
what you don't think you can do, but,
in Jesus Christ you'll have all the strength necessary.

May God bless you to fearlessly
speak out about injustice,
unjust laws, corrupt politicians,
unjust and cruel treatment of prisoners,
and senseless wars,
genocides, starvations, and poverty that is so pervasive.

May God bless you that you remember
we are all called
to continue God's redemptive work
of love and healing
in God's place, in and through God's name,
in God's Spirit, continually creating
and breathing new life and grace
into everything and everyone we touch.

Go in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen
