Welcome!

Christ the Lord is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!

I’m glad that you can join us on this Easter Sunday.
We don’t have any announcements for this week, but I do invite you to watch your email, our website (marcelineumc.com) and our Facebook page for more info as it comes out.
You can follow along in this bulletin for the service. If you are on a computer, phone, or other mobile device, then you can click on each of the videos as they come up. If you  have a smart tv or streaming device connected to your tv, go to our YouTube channel and then go to playlists. Every Sunday We’ll have a new playlist set up with prayers, songs, and a message. As you come to each of those in the service you can play that video. With a playlist, as soon as one finishes, the next video starts so that all you have to do is hit pause until you’re ready to play again.

My prayer is that even in this format, we can worship together, and still see God at work.

Peace,
Pastor John

The video that comes next is a welcome, has a few announcements, and an opening prayer.
No announcements for this week. Continue to watch Facebook and your email for anything that comes up.
Joys & Concerns
We will continue to share our joys and concerns, as well as our prayer requests. Simply follow the link below and fill out the form. If you need to add more, you can fill the form out again. These will be shared with the congregation via email on Monday morning.
Share a joy, concern, and/or prayer request

Prayer
Start the next video, and enter into a time of prayer.
When directed, take a few moments of silent prayer. Please lift up our community as we continue in our cancellations, shut downs, and the challenges they bring. There will be a pastoral prayer, then you are invited to join in the Lord's Prayer which is below.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen
When you finish, ask your kids about how they can lean on Jesus

Offering
You can watch the video, or continue the service following along below.
On this Easter Sunday, we’re gathering in a different way. As we gather, I invite you to consider how you can give, both to the church and to our community during this time. We have received a great deal from God, even in trying times. How can we give back?

If you are able to give, please use the envelopes that were sent out, or you can mail a check to the church at:

Marceline UMC
321 N Kansas Ave
Marceline, MO 64658

If you use online banking you can use your bill pay to send a check from your account directly to the church. You can even set it up so that it will be sent weekly or monthly. Your continued support will help us continue to be in ministry, even during this time.

Before going on to the scripture reading, read the following prayer out loud
Mighty God of Resurrection and Redemption, we offer our gifts alongside our alleluias! We offer our hands and feet and voices to take the celebration out of this place into a world that needs hope so desperately! May we go into the world with such energy, excitement, and power that the ground shakes once again, that lightning flashes, and that people see in us your redeeming love and the triumph of light over darkness! In the name of the risen Christ, we pray. Amen.
Our Scripture Reading comes from Luke 24:13-24 (link is for the whole chapter)
The Road to Emmaus
13On that same day, two disciples were traveling to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking to each other about everything that had happened. 15While they were discussing these things, Jesus himself arrived and joined them on their journey. 16They were prevented from recognizing him.
17He said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk along?” They stopped, their faces downcast.
18The one named Cleopas replied, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who is unaware of the things that have taken place there over the last few days?”
19He said to them, “What things?”
They said to him, “The things about Jesus of Nazareth. Because of his powerful deeds and words, he was recognized by God and all the people as a prophet. 20But our chief priests and our leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him. 21We had hoped he was the one who would redeem Israel. All these things happened three days ago. 22But there’s more: Some women from our group have left us stunned. They went to the tomb early this morning 23and didn’t find his body. They came to us saying that they had even seen a vision of angels who told them he is alive. 24Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women said. They didn’t see him.”

This is the word of God for the people of God
Thanks be to God

Will you join in singing our next song as our music small group leads us in Lord of the Dance
Take a moment for reflection before joining with us in our final song for today, Because he Lives
Go in peace, and may God be with you through this next week, Amen.
