To start today, will you say this prayer with me
Come Holy Spirit, come show us how we can be the spiritual heart of this community
I'm glad to be worshiping with you today!
And just in case you were wondering, after last Sunday's message we did make tuna noodle casserole for dinner one night last week.
This weekend we're going beyond prayer to begin looking at what it means for us to be the spiritual heart of our community.
From whichever platform your participating in worship today, let us know in the comments that you're here. Say hi! And say something about what you think it means to be the heart of something
After you've done that, join in singing our first song

Leader: We are called to bring a new understanding of God:
that God so loves the world.
People: We are the salt of the earth.
Leader: We are called to bring a new hope in God:
that God gives us new life.
People: We are the light of the world.
Leader: We are called to follow the commandments and the law.
People: The Law of God is to love God and to love one another.
Leader: Come, let us be the salt of the earth, the light of the world.
People: Come, let us love one another with the love of God. Let us join together in our love of God to worship and follow Jesus.

Faithful God, you have called us to be a light shining in the world.
Make us reflect the light of Christ, so that people see your love and goodness in our words and actions.
We ask this through your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, Witness
As people of faith, we share who we are with each other. Below I invite you to share your joys and concerns, your prayer requests, and your offerings. You can use the link below, or in the comments
Share a joy, concern, and/or prayer request
Remember that you can mail in your offerings to:
321 N Kansas Ave
Marceline, MO 64658
You can also give online.
Take some time for some personal prayer, and take some time to give. This could be the time when you go online, or you write a check to the church, or when you make that commitment to give in a different way.
After the personal prayer, I'll say a prayer (if you're watching the video), and then join in saying the Lord's Prayer below.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen
Our scripture reading for worship is Matthew 5:13-16
As you are able, please stand for the reading of God's Word.
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how will it become salty again? It’s good for nothing except to be thrown away and trampled under people’s feet. 14You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.
Leader: This is the word of God, for the people of God
People: Thanks be to God!
Today's Message: So they can see
Today we see what it means to be a city on a hill and a light for the world.
As we have heard the message, will you join me in responding to it through the ancient creed of our faith.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
When you're ready, join in our final song
Perfect Light of revelation,
as you shone in the life of Jesus,
whose epiphany we celebrate,
so shine in us and through us,
that we may become beacons of truth and compassion,
enlightening all creation with deeds of justice and mercy.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
