We come with songs of joy and shouts of gratitude. We come carrying heavy burdens and sighs of suffering. As you welcome us into your house, lift our burdens and receive our praise. Salt us with your grace and flavor us with your mercy. Bind us together, that we may be at peace with one another and be strengthened to go forth in service to the world. In your holy name, we pray. Amen. ~ Adapted from The Abingdon Worship Annual 2009, © 2008 Abingdon Press. Posted on the Ministry Matters website. http://www.ministrymatters.com/ Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, Witness As people of faith, we share who we are with each other. Below I invite you to share your joys and concerns, your prayer requests, and your offerings. You can use the link below, or in the comments Share a joy, concern, and/or prayer request Remember that you can mail in your offerings to: Marceline UMC 321 N Kansas Ave Marceline, MO 64658 You can also give online. Take some time for some personal prayer, and take some time to give. This could be the time when you go online, or you write a check to the church, or when you make that commitment to give in a different way. After the personal prayer, I'll say a prayer (if you're watching the video), and then join in saying the Lord's Prayer below. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen Scripture Reading Our scripture reading for worship is James 5:13-18 As you are able, please stand for the reading of God's Word. 13If any of you are suffering, they should pray. If any of you are happy, they should sing. 14If any of you are sick, they should call for the elders of the church, and the elders should pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15Prayer that comes from faith will heal the sick, for the Lord will restore them to health. And if they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16For this reason, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous person is powerful in what it can achieve. 17Elijah was a person just like us. When he earnestly prayed that it wouldn’t rain, no rain fell for three and a half years. 18He prayed again, God sent rain, and the earth produced its fruit. Leader: This is the word of God, for the people of God People: Thanks be to God! Today's Message: Pray for each other We know that we should pray for each other, but what does that actually mean, and what do we do? Our Response As we have heard the message, will you join me in responding to it through the ancient creed of our faith. I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. When you're ready, join in our final song Benediction
Go now and celebrate wherever God’s name is honored. When suffering comes, pray in faith. In times of joy, sing songs of praise. Persevere in prayer and action to bring the fallen back to the truth. And may God save you from all that would harm you; May Christ Jesus heal you and raise you up; and may the Holy Spirit anoint you and give you peace with one another. We go in peace to love and serve the Lord, ...In the name of Christ. Amen. ~ Copyright © 2003 Nathan Nettleton LaughingBird.net
