I want to take a moment to introduce you to our Fall Lineup. While we have been planning for this fall, we knew that it was going to look different than it has in the past. We need to make sure that we have healthy practices for gathering together so we can watch out for one another. We also know that we still need to be able to engage our faith, and do so as a community of faith gathered in God’s presence.
This has been a season where it has been easy to feel many things, and very little of it seems like it is good. However, we’re reminded that we are a people of hope. We have hope that we will come through this time. But, things will not be the same. You’ve heard me say that there have been many things that have needed to change. This is true of the church in general, but change is hard.
Now we are faced with a time where we have no choice but to change. It is easy to feel disheartened, but that is why we are a people of faith. As we look to the fall, we knew that it would be a challenge to figure it out, but there was an answer there for us. We are guided by a few principles to help us figure it out
This isn’t the place we thought we’d be this fall, but I believe it is the place God has made for us. You can find a pdf of the Fall Lineup by clicking on the link below, or just keep reading
One of the most important things that we can do is stay in contact with one another. To help with that, make sure that you have liked our Facebook Page: marcelineumc, bookmarked our website: marcelineumc.com, and signed up for our email list (you can do that on our website).
To help stay connected, we’re introducing our new MUMC App! The first thing to know is that it isn’t really an app, but it kind of feels like one. Through it, you can update your contact information, birthdays, anniversaries, phone numbers, etc. You can also check on your giving and print a statement anytime you need it. On our app, there are also links for the church calendar, blog, registration forms and a lot more. It will be the most convenient place you can go to know what’s going on. Find the link on our website, or go to marcelineumc.churchtrac.com
Once you sign up, you can bookmark the app on your phone, tablet, and/or computer and always have access to the information that you need.
We have made a lot of changes to our worship service over the last few months. We’ve expanded to two in person services on Sunday morning, and one online service. We’ve blocked off pews so that we can socially distance, and we don’t sing like we used to.
The hard part to this is that many of those changes will remain in place for the foreseeable future. However, some things will be changing. We will start to sing more, especially as we continue to wear mask to help keep one another healthy. We’re going to start seeing some of our own folks who will be doing our children’s messages again, but in a pre-recorded format. We’ve also started sharing in Communion again…and we’re working to make that a smoother process all the time. Worship may be different, but we’re still there.
We all know that our kids have been impacted by everything that’s going on. But did you know that our dedicated Sunday School Teachers have been working to send them their lessons every week?
This fall we’re going to take this another step further. We won’t be doing a lot of gathering during Sunday School times with our kids, but we will be taking Sunday School to them. We’ve got lessons, videos, music, crafts, and even some fun surprises in store for our kids. They can do this from home, and even invite their friends over to join them.
We’ve also got CAKE for our kids! CAKE stands for: Christmas Acts of Kindness Experiment. It may seem like it’s too early for Christmas (we’re still in March aren’t we?), but that’s okay. Our kids and their families will be able to share in acts of kindness for other people, and by the end of it we’ll have a great Christmas Story we’re going to tell. We’re still working on the details, but watch for more information soon.
